Upgrades, downgrades, cats, and springtime
2009-03-27 19:10 by Nailbar
Which one should I begin with?
Well. It's spring time. The spring birds are chirping about. Took a picture of a great tit... Giggle. It's really called that. Anyhow, I figured I'd post it here so everyone else get to enjoy this great tit. Um.. Then I noticed the local newspaper has begun posting their centerfold in stereo. That was interesting too so I'll post a picture of that. And then I've posted a picture of our TV screen. That particular picture went into the gallery of Börje, our cat, for some strange reason.

Then I want to tell you a story about upgrading to a newer cell phone. I used to have the Nokia N-gage. I didn't use it for gaming, but it was practical because it sported a USB plug which let it work as a USB memory stick, an mp3 player, a radio, and stereo head phones. It was getting a bit old so I upgraded to a newer N-gage, the QD. So all the things which made the N-gage great, USB, mp3, radio, etc, all of them were missing from the "upgraded" version. It really sucked.
Luckily the new N-gage broke today. It powered of, or rebooted, every time I tried to log in. So now I'm back with the grater, but older, one. Of course I did what I always do when some small electronic device breaks.

I must say they make some really shiny and pretty phone guts on Nokia. I also managed to get the vibrator and loud speaker out intact.

Well.. It had a pretty name, and it was shiny and nice. But otherwise it just sucked, in my opinion.
Forbidden fruit taste like mint

Sigh. I finally found the perfect desktop Linux for me. It's called Linux Mint. It's shiny, it's smooth, and I loved it on first sight. Too bad, because my computer refuses to install it.
All my attempts to install it on my main computer (about 6 this far, I think) has failed leaving me with a completely frozen desktop where the reset button was the only working input. Every time the installer borked at between 70 and 100 percent complete. You gotta love the timing on that thing. Once it froze at "99% complete", and once at "78%" with a message saying "Less than a minute remaining".
If you have any suggestions you could post them here (Add comment), or at the thread regarding this on the LinuxQuestions forum.
Edit: [The story continues...]

Another crazy patent again

I found out that someone's already created an auto rotating pasta fork, so I had to scratch that idea. Here's a new one. I'm quite sure no-one's thought of this yet:

Documentation
2009-03-21 16:46 by Nailbar
Been working hard on the documentation page for the Nailblog. Who knows. Someone else might be using it!!! Anyhow, I'm trying to make it as easy as possible and to some point I'm also doing this for my self. It's getting big enough for me to start forgetting how things actually works... Or something in that general direction.
You can find the documentation page here; [Nailblog documentation].
Testing the side menu

Let's try out the side menu for a while. I don't actually prefer it over the top menu, but since I made it, I'd better use it in order to figure out if there are any problems with it. Also, I have to use a template which supports the side menu too.

Tell me what you think...

Meh. I prefer the top menu. Back to the Winternail template.

Ahh, I remember those. We were making them Starlights back in 2005. Really simple to make, too, although the screws were a bitch, tended to go in crooked and then stick.
