Annoying brutes

I was downloading Slackware 12.2 the whole night. Took me about 9 hours. When I woke up the next morning I saw that the download was done, but the modem was still going blink blink blink. So I brought up the System Guard where I noticed that there was a constant background noise on the network monitor. Next I tailed the message log and saw that someone was trying to brute force their way into my computer again.

After scratching my head for a while, and checking where the attack was coming from, in this case Romania, and checking what the attacking computer had on their web server, I just figured I'd better block the bugger by adding the IP to hosts.deny.

What I would have wanted to do, though, was to let them access a virtual computer and then log everything they do once they're inside. Didn't have time for that at the moment.

Wow. My second spam post on this site ever! I'm honored. Gotta save this one. Good thing HTML formatting is not allowed in comments.
NailBlog-1.0.1
2008-12-15 09:40 by Nailbar
Alright! Now I've converted the entire Nailbox into Nailblog-1.0.1. At this point I really regret that I didn't put some effort into creating the patching module which would have done most of the work for me. Instead, I had to manually copy each and every blog post, and upload each and every file again. I didn't think it was that much work involved :oP
Anyhow, I think the Nailblog is ready for serious use so go to [Programs] and get it for your self!
NailBlog-1.0.0

Ta-daa! It's basically the same as NailBlog-0.5.6 but way better from developer point of view. And, as a bonus, a bit easier and better to use.

Aah, yes. Now that I've begun using this new version a bit more I've already noticed the first bug. A user can't change his/her password on the user settings page. Expect a fix soon.

Well, I've fixed the bugs and added a few more features; Better admin page, a front page, and a configuration box for global options.
Next; I'll start converting this site from Nailblog-0.6.5.
Last Beta!
2008-12-05 01:22 by Nailbar
Alright! This is the last Beta version of the Nailblog I'll be releasing. Next, I'll be adding a few features needed for the final release, and the next you'll hear about the Nailblog will be with the ending numbers 1.0.0!
The latest thing I got fixed was thumbnails for the file manager. It generates thumbnails on request (only once, though) and on the Admin page one can set the thumbnail sizes to anything between 10x10 and 1000x1000.
The features needed for the final release are:
- Image gallery
- Patching module
(for converting data between versions i.e. 0.6.5 to 1.0.0)
Will I ever get there?

Don't pay too much attention to the post date. I tried to sleep. Couldn't. So I ended up programming through the night... Again.

Blaargh! I don't think I'll add the patching module. Too messy. I'll just add some legacy support and peeps can manually copy the stuff from one place to the other.
Nailblog-1.0.beta2
2008-12-02 21:03 by Nailbar
Updated the Nailblog a little. Few bugfixes and such. It's still in beta so don't install it over an existing blog 'cause it'll wipe the sets.php file.
Go to [Programs] to try it out!

Nailblog-1.0.beta3 is now done... Still not safe from spam bots, but usable. Just don't upgrade a 0.6.5 installation with it since you can't access the old data after that.
Christmas is coming!

So here's my Christmas wish list...
And so on and so forth...
