Blogs
2008-07-15 13:13 by Nailbar
Ah, yes, blogs. I mentioned blogs earlier. So here are a few which I read. Dunno if they're all classed as blogs, and strictly speaking, some of the web comics should go in the blogs section.
[TechEBlog]
I like to keep an eye out for new releases and other fun tech stuff. This one's right up my alley.
[I CAN HAS CHEEZ BURGER]
A LOL a day keeps the doctor away. I'm a cat person. And some of these LOLCats are just really funny!
[EcoGeek]
I'm also one with nature, somewhat. Well, at lest I'm really interested in all these new breakthroughs involving solar power, OLEDs, and fuel cells. This blog is all about that.
And lastly, one game I've been playing. [Sauerbraten], also called Cube 2. This seems like a normal first person shooter not unlike Quake or Unreal Tournament, but there is one significant difference; You can edit the levels in mid game. Even in multiplayer mode. The levels are modified by simply selecting an area on a wall, floor or ceiling, terrain, etc. The selected area may then be extruded, or vice versa in order to make a hole. The game is also free for everyone and works on Linux as well as Windows.

[Meebo]
This nifty device is called an instant messenger. The good thing about Meebo is that it supports all the IM-protocols I'm using, and since it's AJAX-based, I can use it everywhere. No installation, no firewall, only a browser and Internet access. Enjoy!

[W3C's Markup validator]
I make a big deal about being xhtml strict, with correct code, and all. This is the service I use to validate my web sites. This page made it!

Sometimes I forget to convert & to & in my links, or leave some small typos in the HTML code. So if the validator gets picky on that, you know I'll get it fixed soon.
New stuff

I got a new graphics card for my birthday. Woke up early to install it, and try it out. Turns out I now can play [Battlefield 2142] in full resolution, and every graphical settings set to high! 4x anti aliasing too!
[Crysis], on the other hand, did not improve. I think it's the processor, and not the graphics card, in this case.
Recently my computer screen broke down, which I've been waiting for, and I finally got my self a nice, shiny flat screen. 22 inch and wide screen with 1680 x 1050 resolution. To make use of my new screen I made a new desktop wallpaper, so, if there's anyone out there who is a Slackware fan and has the same screen resolution, today's your lucky day!

The blue Slackware logo in the middle is pretty much derived from others work, but I can't remember what his name was. It's not a copy, though. It's a remake.
Birthday
2008-07-14 14:59 by Nailbar
Alright, so it's my birthday. Maybe I'm a bit too obsessive about this web programming stuff, since I've been sitting here all day so far. However, the main functions are all done, in one way or another, and a few guests should be arriving soon.
Now that it's ready for use, I'll start adding links.
[Hotmail]
This is one of the more used links on my site. Actually I don't like Hotmail that much. It farks up my messages (probably because I'm using Linux, which has a different newline character than Windows).
And here's a list of the web comics I'm reading almost daily. My Bad Thoughts don't seem to be updating anymore, though (Edit: Never mind, it does update).
[Ctrl+Alt+Del]

They seem to have fixed the newline problem with hotmail, so never mind about that.
Blogging
2008-07-13 18:26 by Nailbar
Alright, so let's try blogging, for a change. Everyone else is doing it! I've never been one with words, so we'll see how this goes...
I'll just start off with the first "item"; The blog! I figured It'll be an easy start if I simply write about what I'm putting up on this site, which I've completely wiped clean, in order to start fresh with a clean plate.
So in the not-too-distant-future you should be able to read about my [links] collection, and my photos, programs, and stuff I've read on other peoples blogs. But before that, I'll have to finish the under-the-hood stuff. Be patient.
Sorry about all the typos, and bad punctuation, and all. It's not my native language.
