How to make your own Aurora Borealis
2010-01-20 07:42 by Nailbar
When I was walking to work this morning I thought I saw my first Aurora Borealis. I was amazed by the shimmering light show and ran back home to fetch my camera and tripod. After a few pictures I was begining to suspect something.
Two pillars were always in the same spot, right above the local gas station. Slowly it dawned on me that the whole thing was just a light show created by the towns lights.
Apparently the light from every lamp post was reflected in a cloud of ice which in turn was created by snow cannons at the ski resort near by. Still pretty, though.
It was also really cold so my cameras auto focus stopped working at some point.
Spheres and stripes

I like spheres. And stripes. Apparently. Here are my latest wallpapers.

Modified the sphere background a bit. Here's the result:
Pixels

There's a joke about self reference or something in this one.
Note: I really hope they'd fix support for my media tablet soon so I can start drawing real pictures again.

This comic was inspired by Zeno's Paradox, which I stumbled upon while reading todays XKCD comic. Is the world infinitely detailed or is it made of minimum sized building blocks like pixels in a picture?
This is where you will go

Wrote another song. I was feeling creative again. Apparently I manage to write somehting blog-worthy about once every two years.
This is where you will go
It's about some kind of travelers home, or something. I was just randomly strumming on the guitar and found this pattern. After that the words wrote them self.
Or something in that general direction.

Hint for the melody. This is how you'd sing to it:

The Failmobile
2010-01-03 14:04 by Nailbar
This may very well be the most silly thing I've ever created that actually works.
I present you.. dun dun dun... the Failmobile!
This is what you get when all you've got is a bit of hard paper, a scissor, some glue, and a small electric motor.
Here's a video too.

I never said it worked _well_. Didn't get the front wheels working, for instance, so the engine had to work a bit harder to get the thing moving.
But Sofia loved it. Here's how much she loved it:

The video may not work in Internet Explorer. Sorry about that. Also sorry about the low quality. I have a 2MB upload limit on this blog.

Yeah. Indeed. For a moment there I was wondering if I should let her rip it to pieces too but it felt unbearable after all those precious minutes I spent gluing it together.
