[Documentation]
Installation instructions and user manual can be found here.

Currently I'm working on version 2.0, but that's still in beta so stick to 1.2 until it's done. The 1.2 version is separated in three categories; Core installation files, templates and modules. The core installation files is what you need to install a working Nailblog on your server. I'm keeping that file rather small and there is no graphical content in there.

New releases are posted in chronological order with download links and patches.

  • Small changes in the admin-box for the counter module.
  • Made links editable, plus minor improvements to the links module.
  • Made the gallery module display all files and not only core supported images.
  • Minor improvements to the file module.

Nailblog-2.0.0-alpha2

2009-05-31 16:11 by Nailbar
Full installation: [nailblog-2.0.0-alpha2.tar.gz]

Finally done with the first release of Nailblog-2. This is an early alpha version and I released just so you can have a look at the code and API. The only modules available are:

  • user
    For user authentication and administration.
  • system
For core system administration. This was done by the core system in version 1.
  • menu
For the menus. There's a small bug in the rule parser which is used to determin if a menu item is shown on a page or not.

Do not point this installation to a data directory with Nailblog-1 data. They are not yet compatible.

I just noticed that the Id for this entry is 404. Funny.

Plans and ideas (other than ports of the Naillblog-1 modules):

  • Needs a nice, new default template.
  • A module for static HTML data which can be put anywhere.
  • Read-only mode.
  • Streaming file download (i don't know much about this).
  • The system module needs links to module documentation where available.
  • Blogs should be visible in list mode too.
  • A news or activity logging module.
This could work so that other modules write to the news module using news_additem($type,$text).
  • User oriented data, like "last news item read", could be stored in the user module's folder in $userid.txt.

Pseudocode!

Lazy as in won't-bother-to-log-in-lazy.

That got me thinking. I need to add auto focus to the anti-bot-password field and make the session remember the users name.

Also want to add "remember me" to the login page.

Temporarily disable logins from specific client after number of fails.

*I'm reading Coding Horror, which is the source for all these ideas

Add a group quicklist to user.php and menu.php.

Nailblog-1.2.13

2009-05-29 09:58 by Admin
Full installation: [nailblog-1.2.13.tar.gz]
1.2.12 - 1.2.13 patch: [nailblog-1.2.13-patch.tar.gz]

A few smaller fixes which annoyed med. Still haven't added any order functionality to the links module but at least you can delete links pages now.

Changelog:

  • Links are not rearranged if used by bots identified by the counter module provided the counter module is loaded before the links module is.
  • Fixed the Internet Exploder problem with the links filter.
  • Made it possible to delete link pages now. Oops.

Todo:

  • Still need to add ordering alternatives to the links module.

Today I added the first Internet Explorer hack. Apparently Internet Explorer don't get the "table-cell" css value for "display" and needs to use "block" instead while the use of "block" in Firefox borkes up the table structure.

Nailblog-2.0.0-alpha1 status

2009-05-29 08:43 by Nailbar
Well... At least one thing is working... Developement is not going too fast due to real work, imminent moving plans, and a tiny person which requires a lot of attention (29 days old as I write this).

Current developement status and features:

  • Core functionality
    • Absolute core working
    • Module control working
    • Default template halfway there
    • No system administration
  • User authentication module
    • Login working
    • User administration working
  • Menu module
    • No menu
    • No administration

The milestone for alpha2 will be to get the core, user authentication, and menu working properly. After that we have a usable system (though not very practical) and I can start adding real features like page modules, blogs, and such.

There will not be an immediate compatibility with Nailblog-1 data and probably won't create a converter until I am more closer feature wise, so don't upgrade any working Nailblog-1 system to Nailblog-2 in a while.

When I get to Nailblog-2.0.0-alpha2 I will publish it here. At this point it should be possible to start developing new modules for it though there will probably be a whole bunch of changes in tha API before I go beta.
