Blog edition
vers. 1.2.19

the Nailbox

Honeypot for bots. Don't submit or you'll get banned!

Nailblog

This is the program this website is based on. If you do try it out, please send me some feedback!

[Documentation]
Installation instructions and user manual can be found here.

Currently I'm working on version 2.0, but that's still in beta so stick to 1.2 until it's done. The 1.2 version is separated in three categories; Core installation files, templates and modules. The core installation files is what you need to install a working Nailblog on your server. I'm keeping that file rather small and there is no graphical content in there.

New releases are posted in chronological order with download links and patches.

Nailblog-1.2.12

2009-05-28 14:54 by Nailbar
Full installation: [nailblog-1.2.12.tar.gz]
1.2.11 - 1.2.12 patch: [nailblog-1.2.12-patch.tar.gz]

Added the keyword filter to the links module which I mentioned earlier.

Changelog:

  • Added the possibility to clear the visitor counter without losing the number of total visits of both bots and humans.
  • Made the move-to list alphabetically ordered in the file module.
  • Fixed the bullets in lists to work with Internet Explorer too in the default template.
  • Added filter functionality to the links module.

Todo:

  • Still need to add ordering alternatives to the links module.
  • Of course Internet Explorer chokes on the link filtering so I'll need to fix that. Use Firefox instead and stop complaining!
  • Should also make the links not react to bots as defined by the counter module.

  • The links module passes now passes XHTML validation even with odd number of links.

Todo:

  • Add keyword filther to mod_links.
  • Add order by most used, last used and alphabetically to mod_links.
  • Alphabetically order the move-to list in mod_file.
  • Fix the IE-list bug in all the templates.
  • Add a "clear+save count" button to mod_counter.

Nailblog-1.2.10

2009-04-24 15:57 by Nailbar
Full installation: [nailblog-1.2.10.tar.gz]
1.2.9 - 1.2.10 patch: [nailblog-1.2.10-patch.tar.gz]

Important patch if you use the blog module!

Changelog:

  • Fixed a bug in mod_blog.php where Internet Explorer users couldn't post comments or entries as guest.
  • Fixed a minor bug in mod_blog.php which just didn't pass the W3C XHTML validator.
  • Added a module for link collections where the most used links appear higher up then the rest. This module will only pass XHTML validation if there are an even number of link in a collection. I'll fix this in the next release.

Also; this new release farked up my lists. 10 comes after 1 and not after 9.

Thoughts about Nailblog-1.3 or Nailblog-2

2009-03-31 15:11 by Nailbar
There are some larger changes I would like to do on the current Nailblog which would require a rewrite for all the modules. Depending on how much these changes effect content data, templates and other parts of the installation the version number change for this would either jump to 1.3 or even 2.0. Here are some thought on these changes...

index.php
The core system which provides the basic functionality and controls which modules and templates are loaded.

sys/nailblog.php
The nailblog class containing common variables, default values and common functions required by index.php, templates and modules.

sys/mod_*.php
All modules do their own thing and use the nailblog class for output and common functions. Most of the output should be passed through some function which can be overridden by the template in order to create a more uniform look and feel. I'm not sure whether the defaults for these functions should be defined by the nailblog class or by the modules.

sys/templates/*
Templates are loaded by index.php, and may override some functions of output in order to unify the look and feel for the pages.

sys/sets.php
This file is loaded by index.php and contains some constants and functions which may only be tweaked by someone with direct access to the installed files.

sys/changelog.txt
The changelog for the current nailblog installation.

Should use folder name "nailblog" instead of "sys".

Maybe index.php should be a symbolic link to nailblog.php in order to add support for other systems in the same folder. Maybe an index.php file with include("nailblog.php"); and nothing else.

Zipped uploads for more than one file at a time would be nice too. This would be for the file manager module.

And an on-server backup system for quick backups. Of course this requires plenty of disk space but still.

Or maybe an update history so one could step back in time and un-delete data that way.

While I'm at it... All reading and writing in the data folder should be done through functions in nailblog/nailblog.php in case I want to change the way data is handled.

Nailblog-1.2.9

2009-03-22 21:00 by Nailbar
Full installation: [nailblog-1.2.9.tar.gz]
1.2.8 - 1.2.9 patch: [nailblog-1.2.9-patch.tar.gz]

Mostly minor bug fixes.

Changes:

  • Fixed a bug in sidemenu_main() where the line $menucontent should have been global $menucontent.
  • Fixed a bug in honeypot_getlist() where the line global $honeypot_version was missing.
  • Fixed a bug in page_edit() where $blog[1] should have been $page[0][1].
  • Added a button for "Save and continue" to the page editor.
  • Changed page_main() so it won't show an extra line in the title when the page has no title.
  • Added the group "templateadmin" to the group quick list.

Todo:

  • Fix mod_blog.php. The bottom form for setting the number of entries per page is borked and will not validate as XHTML strict. It's now <p><form><p>, and should be <form><p>.

Changes:

  • Made it easier to tell user agents marked as bots from non-bots in the counter module.
  • Made it possible to define the backup file name in the backup module.
  • Made it possible for visitors to specify how many entries they want to see per page in the blog module.
This goes for blog combinations and rss feeds too.
