DynDNS

My home server can now more easily be found through a dynamic domain name address (tagfactory.dyndns.org).

I don't know if you'll find anything interesting there, though. I've added some data but it's really just one page with some text and a few links. You're into text and links? Well good. Enjoy!

Cartoon Space

Tested HTML5 canvas. Don't know if this would work in any other than Firefox 5.0, but check it out. (At this point no input available, just watch and watch some more)

Launch Cartoon Space!

Screendump

Edit 1: All child parts will now also detach when a part is destroyed, not only the part that was hit.

Edit 2: Larger scene, ships prefer closer enemies before distant ones, target indicator.

Edit 3: Fixed the swaying ships, added new ships.

Edit 4: Ship types and start positions based on team, zoom in on current ship when team wins.

Edit 5: Added new team and ship type, improved bullet hit calculations, added energy shields.

Edit 6: More ships. All teams have their own style.

Edit 7: Added reinforcements.

Edit 8: Added human control (Ship follows cursor and fires on left mouse button), plus some code cleanup.

Edit 9: Fixed target indicator for human controlled ships, better respawning.

Edit n: All changes can from now on be tracked on github: https://github.com/nailbar/Cartoon-Space.

Perching kittens

It's winter and dark, I'm driving fast on slippery snowy streets in a larger city with lot's of traffic and lose control of the car a couple of times. Eventually I get where I was going. A hotel of sorts. In my room I open the curtains and see a view over a street and a river and more city scape beyond that. Some power lines hang over the street, on which small balls of fluffy kittens are perched in rows. An angry man on the street with a bb-gun is trying to shoot down the kittens. One of the kittens jump off the power line and dwindle down at the speed of a snowflake or a small spider and then skittles off.

Then I woke up.

And it's monday.

Wallpaper time!

I made a new wallpaper again.

bg_blue_fold.png bg_blue_fold2.png

Started out as two gradients with a fold between them. Later added more folds and a ring and finally some dirt and scratches.

The second one is the same wallpaper but with added contrast, color and bloom. Pick one depending on mood.

Quick sketches

I always feel like sketching when I'm doing something unpleasant at work. Such as attending meetings.

These, however, are the result of me trying to figure out how to implement Web Service Security using PHP5's native SOAP client. I'm still not there, but I can feel it getting closer. More sketches will probably see the light before I'm done.

Firefox4 bugs in Kubuntu

Another clean installation and... It didn't help one bit.

These pictures show what I'm talking about:

firefox4bug-1.png firefox4bug-2.png firefox4bug-3.png firefox4bug-4.png

Show source doesn't display comments or DOCTYPE and possibly other elements of the source unless syntax highlighting is turned off. Many pages on Wikipedia and also on some other sites are displayed like this: large empty space and a mile-long scrollbar. Most information is displayed at the bottom of the page but not all.

Edit: It's probably not hardware related since the same bug appeard in a virtual machine and also when that machine was running on another computer.

It was a font problem and fixed by doing:

sudo apt-get remove ttf-dejavu-core
sudo apt-get install ttf-dejavu

Now everything works again.
